Hotel Owner In Dighi Arrested For Selling Liquor Illegally

Pimpri Chinchwad, November 11, 2020: The Dighi police arrested two hotel owners for selling liquor illegally and seized a large quantity of domestic and foreign alcohol from their possession on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Shaam Tapkir and Santosh Jadhav, both co-owners of Dwarka family garden restaurant located at Alandi road.

This incident came to light after officials from the Social Security cell received secret information that illegal alcohol has been served at Dwarka restaurant.

Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Kubde of the Social Security cell, laid a trap and arrested both the owners for selling liquor illegally.

According to police, a total of 15 people, including 11 customers and four waiters serving them, were also fined Rs 500 each.

Police officials have recovered Rs 10,240 cash, foreign liquor and beer bottles worth Rs 34,499, total worth Rs 49,739.

This drive was conducted after Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner Krishna Prakash has ordered all the police stations to stop illegal trades in their jurisdiction.
