Housing Societies Contain a Higher Number Of Covid-19 Positive Patients In Pune; Reveals PMC Data

Pune, 30th March 2021: Corona infection has re-emerged in the city since the beginning of February. According to the statistics released by the Pune Municipal corporation(PMC), the highest number of corona patients are among the housing societies. As of last Thursday (March 25), the number of micro restricted areas in the city has reached 206. It consists of 78 buildings and 95 housing societies, and 33 small premises.

The number of corona patients is increasing in the city. However, since many patients do not show symptoms, the emphasis is on home isolation. The Municipal Corporation has declared a micro containment zone in three categories under the PMC ward Offices- buildings, societies, and small premises.

Micro Containment Zones

If more than 20 patients are observed in a housing society with four or five buildings and a small area, then it has been labeled a micro containment zone. In comparison, the building will be declared as the micro containment zone if there are more than five patients.

The seals are being stamped on patients’ hands, and information about the restricted area is written at the entrance. Patients are prohibited from entering and leaving the restricted area, and punitive action is being taken against those who do not follow the rules.

The Second Wave In The City Likely To Affect Entire Family

The increase in the number of corona patients, which started in February, is the second wave and is likely to affect the entire family. So the citizens now have to be extra careful regarding precautions.

 Assistant Health Officer of Pune Municipal Corporation Dr. Sanjeev Wavre said, “The exact number has not been reported. Still, the total number of infected families is higher than last year. One of the main reasons for this is the increase in the rate of viral infections. It is also possible that home isolation rules are not being implemented strictly. The family must strictly follow the home isolation to avoid the disease”.

Doubling Rate OF The Infection

Meanwhile, the doubling period in the city is 53 days. The cure rate is 86.38 percent, and the mortality rate is 2.07 percent. As of March 25, there are 24,698 patients in home isolation, 1,058 in government hospitals, and 2,362 in private hospitals. Also, 207 patients are being treated at Covid Care Centers.
