Pune, 28th May 2026: Pune’s summer this year has been relentless. With soaring temperatures and humid afternoons keeping many indoors, young people across the city are finding their own ways to stay cool and hydrated while spending time at home watching television, streaming shows, or relaxing with snacks.

For many teenagers, summer afternoons often mean sitting in front of the TV with bowls of chips, French fries, and chilled beverages close at hand. From traditional summer coolers to fizzy soft drinks, hydration choices vary widely among Pune’s youth.

Sixteen-year-old Sanvi Jadhav says natural and homemade drinks remain her preferred option during the scorching season.

“Well, watermelon, chia seeds, water with Tang, and panha are some things that keep me hydrated,” she says.

While flavoured drinks are popular, many youngsters still believe plain water is the most reliable way to beat the heat.

“Mostly I resort to water because that’s what keeps me hydrated,” says Mahi, 16.

At the same time, soft drinks continue to remain a common summer companion among teenagers.

Fifteen-year-old Samaira Phasate says she enjoys beverages such as Maaza and Diet Coke alongside regular water intake.

“Well, besides water, I rely on soft drinks such as Maaza and drinks like Diet Coke,” she says.

Similarly, 17-year-old Hridhaya Shukla says refreshing drinks are enjoyable during the summer, but water remains the most effective source of hydration.

“I really like lemonade and Sprite. However, I don’t rely on them as much as I rely on water since that’s the main element that keeps me hydrated for the longest time,” Hridhaya says.

The responses reflect a growing awareness among youngsters about the importance of staying hydrated during Pune’s intense summer season.

While soft drinks, lemonade, Maaza, and other chilled beverages continue to be in demand, water remains the most trusted and essential choice for many young residents trying to cope with the heat.

As Pune experiences another harsh summer, hydration — whether through traditional drinks, fruits, or simple glasses of water — has become an important part of everyday life for the city’s youth.
