Pune, 14th June 2021: Eventually, after mulling time, the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education issued an official statement scrapping the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) class 12th examination.

The examination which was supposed to be held from April 23, 2021, to May 29, 2021, was earlier postponed till June owing to the rising number of Covid-19 in Maharashtra in March-April.

In the notification issued today, the Board stated, “Considering a large number of students will appear for the examination, the spread of Coronavirus on a large scale cannot be ruled out. Similarly, if the students get infected, they further can infect their family members. Thus, it is necessary to scrap the examination to stop the spread of the virus. So, the decision to cancel the examinations was taken”.

Through this notification, the Board informed all the stakeholders including principals, secondary schools, teachers, students, and their parents that the examination stands cancelled. Meanwhile, the State Board has not mentioned the evaluation pattern in this notification.

The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) too had earlier cancelled the class 12 examination.
