Human Trafficking Bust in Pune: Three Women Rescued

Hinjawadi, 26th April 2024: Action has been taken against a man in Pimpri Chinchwad who was engaged in the prostitution business for his financial gain, resulting in the rescue of three women from his custody. This incident occurred in Bavdhan on Wednesday, April 26th, at around 8:15 PM.

 

Regarding this, AHTU constable Ganesh Karote filed a complaint at Hinjawadi Police Station. Subsequently, the Hinjawadi Police arrested Suryakant Devare, aged 49 and a resident of Bavdhan, originally from Shahapur, Thane. Three women were rescued from him.

 

According to AHTU Inspector Devendra Chavan, the accused was running a prostitution business by luring three women with promises of money for his financial gain. A confidential source tipped off AHTU officers about this operation. Under the jurisdiction of Hinjawadi Police Station, AHTU conducted a raid at the Dean Residency in Bavdhan and apprehended the accused. Three women were rescued from his grasp during the operation.

 

Regarding this, Hinjawadi Police have registered a case against the accused Devmare under IPC Section 370(3) (exploitation of trafficked person) along with relevant sections of The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Assistant Police Inspector Dhumal is further investigating this matter.

 

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Vishal Hire, along with AHTU Inspector Devendra Chavan and Police Constables Sunil Shirsath, Maruti Karchude, Bhagwanta Muthe, Ganesh Karote, Sudhe Toke, Vaishnavi Gavde, Reshma Jhavare, and Sonali Mane.
