‘I Am Exhausted…’ – Actress Ranya Rao Breaks Down During Police Interrogation, Reveals Gold Smuggling Truth

New Delhi, 7th March 2025: Kannada actress Ranya Rao, daughter of Karnataka IPS officer Ramachandra Rao, who was caught smuggling gold, has made several shocking revelations. After the arrest, she confessed that she had 17 gold biscuits.

According to her statement to the police, Ranya Rao revealed,
“I have traveled to the Middle East, Dubai, and some Western countries. I have also visited Europe, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai multiple times. Right now, I am exhausted as I haven’t had enough time to rest.”

Earlier, it was revealed that last year she had made 27 trips to Dubai, which put her under investigation by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

Ramachandra Rao is Ranya’s stepfather

In the statement, she also revealed details of her family. She said that her father K.S. Heggadesh, is a real estate businessman, and her husband, Jatin Hukkeri, is an architect who lives with them in Bengaluru. Ramachandra Rao, Director General of Police, Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, is her stepfather. Rao is one of the two daughters from his second wife’s previous marriage.

Ranya Rao was arrested with 14 kg of gold

Ranya Rao was arrested on Monday night at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport with 14 kg gold bars worth Rs 14.56 crore. According to a report by Indo-Asian News Service, she was part of a smuggling network and earned a hefty commission for smuggling goods from Dubai to Bengaluru. She used to charge around Rs 4-5 lakh for smuggling each kg of gold.
