“I Did Not Expect Such Opposition Towards The Agnipath Scheme,” Says Indian Navy Chief

New Delhi, 17th June 2022: The Agneepath scheme started by the central government is being fiercely opposed in many parts of the country. On Friday many incidents of demonstration and arson came to light in many states including Bihar, UP, Bengal and Telangana.

Amidst this, Admiral R Hari Kumar, Navy Chief said that he did not expect such widespread violent protests over the scheme.

Talking to news agency ANI, the Navy Chief said, “I did not expect any such protest. We worked on the Agnipath scheme for about one and a half years.”
Describing the Agnipath plan as transformative, Admiral Kumar said that this scheme is ‘Made in India’ and ‘Made for India’.

The Navy Chief said, “I want to tell people not to protest and become violent. They should understand the plan and remain peaceful. This is a wonderful opportunity for the youth to serve the country.”
