IDAS OFFICERS PUNE CELEBRATE THE CIVIL SERVICES DAY BY PLEDGING COOKED FOOD SUPPORT TO A COLONY OF 125 MIGRANT LABOURERS FOR ONE MONTH

Pune, 22 April 2020- On the occasion of Civil Services Day on April 21, 2020, the officers from the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) Pune adopted a settlement of 125 migrant labourers in Camp Area for providing cooked food for one month. Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Southern Command), Mayank Sharma, IDAS started the cooked food aid for migrant workers and poor with no source of income in Camp Area in Pune under COVID-19 voluntary assistance initiative. On 22  April 2020, the food packets were distributed by Dr Nirupama Kajla, IDAS, PCDA(O) Pune. A total of  125 members  including women and children, from various States of India like UP, Bihar, Orissa, Chattisgarh, Karnataka and Maharashtra (Marathwada Region )  living in Camp, Pune, were distributed 250 packets of cooked food and pickles for providing two meals per day to each person. Milk was added from April 22, 2020 onwards.

 


The initiative is a part of all Civil Services joining hands to provide aid and assistance to poor people under the banner of ‘Civil Services Associations Reach to Support in Natural Disasters’ (CARUNA). The food was cooked in the Mess of National Academy of Defence Financial Management (NADFM)  Golibar Maidan Pune ,which is the Central Training Academy of the Indian Defence  Accounts Service (IDAS) officers. For this purpose the IDAS officers in Pune made voluntary monetary contribution from their personal accounts. NGO Dnyaneshwar Pratishthan has taken the responsibility for distributing the cooked food packets.

 

When contacted about this noble initiative, the senior most IDAS officer in Pune Mayank Sharma, IDAS said, “This is the unique way in which we the IDAS officers in Pune could celebrate the Civil Services Day. The cause is aimed at providing cooked food to needy and poor people without work and money during this testing time of COVID-19 epidemic”.  CEO Pune Cantonment Board,  Amit Kumar, Corporator Vinod Mathurawala and Shailendra Chidrawar of the NGO, Dnyaneshwar Pratishthan provided support to this cause.
