Illegal Constructions in Pune to Face Demolition After Hearings, Says Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant
Mumbai/Pune, 10th July 2025: The Maharashtra government will take strict action against illegal constructions in Pune, particularly in the Guruwar Peth area, by issuing notices and ordering demolitions after conducting urgent hearings, said Industries Minister Dr. Uday Samant in the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
Dr. Samant was responding to a calling attention motion raised by BJP MLC Yogesh Tilekar regarding rampant illegal construction activities in Pune. Members Sadabhau Khot and Abhijit Wanjari also participated in the discussion.
“Unauthorized structures, especially those erected by constructing sheds without proper building permissions, will be demolished after prompt hearings. Notices will be issued soon,” said Dr. Uday Samant, adding that the government will not take action against officially sanctioned religious structures.

However, the minister made it clear that all illegal constructions without valid permissions will be acted upon, irrespective of their location. He also announced that a departmental inquiry will be conducted against officials who deliberately turned a blind eye to such illegal activities.
