Illicit Liquor Crackdown in Pune Police Zone 4

Yerwada, 16th August 2025: Pune police teams carried out large-scale raids in hilly and riverside areas under Zone 4. A total of 16 cases were registered against 16 accused, and illicit liquor, chemicals, and other materials worth ₹36,735 were seized. The haul included 318 litres of country-made liquor valued at ₹31,630 and 6.6 litres of liquor worth ₹2,960.

“We have launched a special drive across Zone 4 to strike at the root of illicit liquor manufacturing and sale. Strict action will continue until this illegal trade is completely eradicated,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Somay Munde while announcing a major crackdown on Saturday.

The operation was conducted by a special team comprising 23 police officers, 68 personnel, and a Mobile Surveillance Van equipped with drones. Police confirmed that thousands of litres of chemicals used in brewing illicit liquor were also destroyed on site.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Manoj Patil, DCP Zone 4 Somay Munde, ACP Yerwada Division Pranjali Sonawane, and ACP Khadki Division Vitthal Dabade.
