IMD Forecast: Monsoon To Reach Mumbai And Pune By June 17

Pune, 13th June 2023: While the monsoon has already arrived on the Konkan coast, Punekars will have to wait for approximately five more days before the rains reach the city.

Anupam Kashyapi, the head of Weather Forecastingat the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, said that the progress of the monsoon in the Konkan region is promising. The onset of monsoon is expected to reach Mumbai and Pune around June 17.

According to the IMD forecast, Pune can expect predominantly clear skies with partial cloudiness towards the afternoon or evening. There may be very light rainfall in the city over the next seven days. The minimum and maximum temperatures are projected to range between 24 and 36 degrees Celsius, accompanied by high relative humidity.

Kashyapi stated, “Monsoon has entered Southern Maharashtra. The Northern limit of Monsoon now passes through Ratnagiri, Shimoga, Hassan, Dharmapuri, and Shriharikota, which indicates a five-day delay compared to the normal onset forecast.”

Pune residents are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the monsoon, which will bring relief from the scorching summer heat and replenish water resources in the region. As the monsoon progresses, it is expected to bring much-needed respite and rejuvenation to the city and its surroundings.
