IMD Issues Cold Wave Alert for Pune on December 11
Pune, 10th December 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for Pune for the next 24 hours, placing the city under a yellow alert for December 11. The updated bulletin, released on December 10, also includes similar warnings for 13 districts across North and Central Maharashtra, the Marathwada subdivision and one district in Vidarbha, where isolated pockets are expected to experience cold wave conditions.
IMD officials said strong northerly winds and moderate wind flow have intensified the cooling effect across the state. As a result, several districts are recording a sharp dip in minimum temperatures — a trend likely to continue over the next 24 hours.
For December 12, the yellow alert has been reduced to six districts in North Maharashtra and Marathwada, with Pune no longer under any warning. However, officials added that Pune’s minimum temperature is not expected to rise significantly despite the alert being withdrawn.
