Pune, 8th August 2022: The Pune district has received a red alert for Monday and an orange alert for the following few days from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD, “Extremely heavy rainfall at isolated sites in ghat areas,” will occur on Monday, and the orange alert will last until August 11.
Three additional districts in the state have also been placed on red alert until August 11 along with Pune. Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Satara districts have received a red alert for Monday, while Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Nashik, and Kolhapur have received an orange alert due to the likelihood that these districts would also see heavy to very heavy rains between August 9 and 11.
Due to heavy rains that fell in the district’s ghat areas during the second and third weeks of July, the four dams that provide water to Pune have reached 73.21 per cent of their capacity.
