Mumbai, 8th August 2022: The BJP, which formed the government in Maharashtra with Shiv Sena’s rebel Eknath Shinde, has now made preparations to surround Sharad Pawar after Uddhav Thackeray, starting from his daughter Supriya Sule’s Lok Sabha seat. The BJP has already started preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and has chosen 16 seats, which the opposition has often won. One of these seats is from Baramati, where Supriya Sule is an MP. BJP has prepared ‘Mission Baramati’ to surround NCP in this stronghold. Nirmala Sitharaman has been given the responsibility to strengthen the ground of the BJP in Baramati.

The Baramati seat in the Pune district has been considered safe for the Pawar family. The preparations of the BJP are going to increase Pawar’s tension. Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to visit Baramati from 16 to 18 August. During this visit, she will meet BJP workers and take stock of the strength of the party. Since the formation of NCP in 1999, Sharad Pawar’s family has been winning from this seat. Sharad Pawar himself has also been an MP from here. The BJP has chosen 16 such seats in Maharashtra, where the opposition has been winning. By strengthening its organization in these seats, BJP wants to surprise the opposition in 2024.

A total of 144 seats have been chosen by the BJP across the country, out of which 16 are from Maharashtra. On one hand, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Baramati, while Union Minister Renuka Singh has been given the command of Shirur Lok Sabha. From here too, NCP’s Amol Kolhe is the MP. There are 4 Lok Sabha seats in the Pune district, out of which only one is occupied by the BJP, which is from the urban area. Apart from this, NCP has Baramati and Shirur Lok Sabha seats. On the other hand, Shiv Sena won from Maval seat in 2019. Shiv Sena’s Shrirang Barne is the MP from here. The advantage for the BJP is that Srirang is now in the camp of Eknath Shinde.

Baramati has been known for its ‘Brand Pawar’ and despite all efforts, the BJP has not been able to make inroads. However, the BJP is excited by the departure of Uddhav Sarkar in Maharashtra and the weakening of the unity of the opposition camp. Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar has been winning from Baramati’s Sadar assembly seat. In 2019, Supriya Sule won from here by 1.5 lakh votes against the BJP candidate.
