IMD Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Pune and Four Other Districts

Pune, 29th May 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai, issued a nowcast warning on Wednesday afternoon, alerting residents of Pune and four other districts about likely thunderstorm activity over the next few hours.

According to the IMD’s bulletin issued at 1:30 PM, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and moderate spells of rain, along with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, are “very likely to occur at isolated places” in the districts of Pune, Ahilyanagar, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded within the next 3–4 hours.

Citizens in these areas have been advised to take precautions while stepping outdoors. The IMD has urged people to avoid open spaces during lightning, stay away from trees, and ensure basic safety measures are in place to prevent accidents related to wind and rain.
