IMD Predicts More Rain for Pune; Shivajinagar Gets 55 mm Rain, Chinchwad 47.5 mm
Pune/Pimpri Chinchwad, 13th June 2025: As heavy rains continued to lash Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad on Friday, the city recorded 34 incidents of tree falls between Thursday night and Friday evening, according to the Pune Fire Brigade. The downpour led to traffic disruptions and prompted precautionary alerts in multiple localities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded the following rainfall (in mm) till 8:45 PM on Friday:
Shivajinagar – 55.0
Chinchwad – 47.5
Lohgaon – 45.0
Magarpatta – 40.0
Lavale – 38.5
NDA – 10.5
The Shivajinagar and Chinchwad areas saw the heaviest rainfall of the day. Fire brigade teams were deployed to clear uprooted trees across various parts of the city to restore road connectivity and avoid hazards.
The IMD has predicted continued rainfall in Pune over the next several days:
14 June: Generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain very likely
15 June: Generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain very likely
16–19 June: Generally cloudy sky with light rain likely
The Pune Municipal Corporation and fire brigade are on standby to manage emergencies related to the monsoon, said Additional Commissioner Omprakash Divate.
