Pune Rural Police Conduct Mock Drill in Saswad Ahead of Ashadhi Wari 2025

Pune, 13th June 2025: In preparation for the upcoming Ashadhi Wari 2025, Saswad Police Station, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Quick Response Team (QRT), and Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB), conducted a comprehensive mock drill at the Sopankaka Temple within the Pune Rural Police jurisdiction.
The exercise was initiated following a confidential message indicating that two suspicious individuals were hiding inside the temple. Acting swiftly, the Saswad Police Station’s in-charge officer mobilized the team and informed the Pune Rural Control Room. Within minutes, the police team reached the temple premises, safely evacuated all devotees, and secured the area.
Upon receiving updates from the control room, the QRT, BDDS, ATB, and drone team were deployed around the temple. The entire area was sealed off, and the QRT took control, launching a search operation that confirmed the presence of two terrorists inside the temple. Intelligence revealed that the suspects had placed an explosive-laden bag outside the temple wall. The BDDS team began the process of neutralizing the threat, and the QRT successfully apprehended both suspects during the operation.
The bomb squad examined the suspicious bag using specialized equipment and safely neutralized it with a water disruptor. The fire department then ensured the area was safe by dousing it with water.
This mock drill was conducted under the guidance of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, with key roles played by Saswad Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dilip Shinde, Saswad Police Station in-charge Rishikesh Adhikari, BDDS Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Salunke, QRT Assistant Police Karande, ATB Assistant Police Prakash Pawar, and several other officers and personnel from the bomb, drone, and QRT teams.
