In Pune no sale of petrol, diesel to common man: District Collector Ram

Pune, May 6, 2020: Pune District Collector Naval Kishor Ram has ordered that petrol and diesel should be supplied at petrol pumps to the people allowed by the government to start a business, work during the lockdown.

The District Disaster Management Authority has been set up under Section 25 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the Collector and District Magistrate is the ex-officio chairman of the said Authority as per sub-section 2 (a).

The State Government has issued a notification to implement the provisions of Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 dated March 13, 2020, to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the State. Rules in this regard have also been published and the Collector has been declared the competent authority.

As the outbreak of COVID19 virus is on the rise, the Home Secretary and the Chairman, National Executive Committee, Government of India, has enacted Disaster Management Act guidelines and orders across the country as part of the emergency response plan. In this connection, orders have been issued to prevent crowding and the lockdown order has been extended till 17/05/2020.

District Collector Ram has clarified that petrol, diesel will be sold to people who have been issued passes by Pune Municipal Corporation, Pune City police, Pimpri Chinchwad police, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and District Collector’s Office.

“Petrol and diesel should be supplied to the vehicles by taking into account the transport passes issued to the vehicles for essential and other service concessions. The identity cards/passes given by the government and semi-government agencies are also valid to get petrol, diesel”, he said.

However, essential and other industrial establishments permitted in rural areas of Pune district, Special Economic Zones, Export Oriented Units, raw materials transport, hardware production and packaging in Commercial Information Technology, rural construction establishments, all government work, all pre-monsoon works, all sorts of things related to the establishment care should be taken to supply petrol and diesel at petrol pumps by following the rules laid down by the government (social distance, wearing a mask) without requiring any kind of pass to these vehicles.

Also, earlier orders regarding the supply of petrol and diesel are being maintained. Collector Ram has warned that action will be taken against those who do not comply with the order.
