Indapur: Pune Rural Police Seize Banned Gutkha Worth Rs 18 Lakh, Detain Two

Indapur, 30th March 2023: The Indapur police detained two individuals for illegally transporting banned gutkha on the Akluj-Indapur highway within the Indapur police station limits. The police acted swiftly and seized gutkha worth Rs 18.08 lakhs, along with other goods worth Rs 24.08 lakhs. The Pune rural police were responsible for the seizure.

The police received information about the illegal transportation of gutkha on the Akluj-Indapur highway and immediately formed a team, consisting of Assistant Police Inspector Nagnath Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Langute, Police Constable Sunil Balgude, and Police Constable Vikas Rakhunde, who conducted a raid between Bawda and Indapur at 9 PM on Wednesday. They caught a suspected pick-up truck with the license plate number MH 13 DQ 2496 and seized a total of Rs 24.08 lakhs worth of goods.

The driver and his companion have been detained, and a case has been filed at the Indapur Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, and the prohibition order of the Maharashtra State Food Safety Commissioner. The Indapur police are continuing their investigation into the case.
