India Announces Squad For Upcoming T-20 World Cup 2022

Pune, 12th September 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) announced India’s squad on 12th September for the upcoming T-20 World Cup starting on 16th October. The 15-member squad is as listed – Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, R Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Y Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, B Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh. Along with them, the team is also taking along four standby players – Deepak Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohd. Shami.

 

 

 

The world cup is scheduled to take place in Australia from 16th October. The tournament will end on 13th November after 45 matches. The last edition was won by Australia. They defeated New Zealand by a margin of seven wickets.

 

 

 

The Indian team put up a poor show in the recently concluded Asia Cup and could not make it to the finals. Back-to-back losses against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the Super Four led to their elimination. Sri Lanka went on to win the Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan in the final.

 

 

 

India has two T-20 series aligned with Australia and South Africa before entering the big games. The Indian team will be looking to regain their form by entering the World Cup later this year. These two series will be crucial for India faring their chances of winning the World Cup this year.
