India Set to Host World’s Largest Diwali Celebration in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024
Pune, 26th November 2023: In an ambitious announcement, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maharashtra state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule declared that India is gearing up for the world’s largest Diwali celebration, scheduled to take place in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. The grand event aims to bring 1.5 lakh devotees from the state of Maharashtra to visit the Shri Ram temple over the next eight months.
The announcement was made during a ceremony to honour the contributors to the ‘Selfie with Meri Mati’ initiative, a part of ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh,’ in collaboration with the Department of Higher and Technical Education and National Service Scheme (NSS). The initiative recently achieved recognition in the Guinness World Records for its outstanding participation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bawankule praised Rajesh Pandey for being entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the darshan for 1.5 lakh devotees to the Shri Ram temple. He highlighted the dedication of the ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ initiative, dedicated to those who sacrificed for the country, with 1.4 crore citizens participating nationwide. The ‘Selfie with Meri Mati’ world record achieved in Maharashtra received commendation.
State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil expressed joy at surpassing China through the ‘Selfie with Meri Mati’ world record activity. The event included the felicitation of those who played a pivotal role in securing the world record.
Rajesh Pandey provided insights into the achievement, stating that nearly 25 lakh citizens submitted selfies for consideration, and about 10 lakh 42 thousand selfies were ultimately recognized for the world record. The program was moderated by Dr. Sanjay Chakane.
