India Will Become The World’s Top Semiconductor Provider Country: Rajeev Chandrasekhar

New Delhi, 11th January 2022: A 100-day plan has been prepared by the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) to help India in making a trillion-dollar economy.

At the Microsoft Future Ready virtual event, the Union Minister said, “we have the skills to become an electronics system and manufacturing service design provider. Also, we have immense potential.”

The central government recently decided to set up a semiconductor mission in India. Recently, an amount of Rs 76,000 crore ($ 10 billion) has been approved by the government. This will be used in the work of semiconductor and display manufacturing. The government will release the Rs 76,000 crore scheme in the next 6 years. Under this scheme, Rs 2.3 lakh crore will be spent to make India a global semiconductor hub.

According to the minister, “India is rapidly moving towards digital adoption. During covid, there has been a lot of growth in the areas of health, fintech, education, and skills. In such a situation, it is clear that the Internet should be limited to surfing and watching Netflix and YouTube. It is meant for carrying out the daily tasks of the people.”

In the current era, the internet has become an economic lifeline in India. The next wave of computing performance is going to come from software optimization, semiconductor design, electronic systems design, and innovation thus, this will help India in making a trillion-dollar economy.
