Indian Air Force Launches Industry Outreach Programme In Pune To Foster Innovation

Pune, 18th October 2023: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has unveiled its Industry Outreach Programme, aimed at fostering stronger ties between the defence sector and private industry. The initiative kicked off with an event at Air Force Station Pune on October 17 attended by key stakeholders from aerospace, defence, technology, and academia.

The Industry Outreach Programme is a pioneering initiative designed to amalgamate various sectors, including aerospace and defence, to enhance dialogue and expertise sharing. The ultimate goal is to cultivate forward-looking solutions that support the IAF’s mission to safeguard India’s airspace. Air Vice Marshal George Thomas, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Plans) at Air Headquarters, presided over the program.

During the event, Air Vice Marshal Thomas emphasized the IAF’s commitment to modernization and innovation through indigenous resources. “By partnering with the private sector and facilitating collaboration, we aim to enhance our operational readiness and secure the nation’s skies effectively,” Thomas stated. He asserted that such collaborations are essential for driving innovation in national defence and building a brighter future for India.

The programme invited industry leaders, innovators, and experts to discuss and share ideas. The initiative aims to act as a catalyst in spurring innovation and collaboration within private industries. The ultimate goal is to not only enhance the IAF’s operational capabilities but also strengthen national defence from a broader perspective.
