Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th October 2023: The Banga Bharati Durgotsav And Kalipuja Committee is celebrating its 38th year of organizing Durga Puja and its 50th year as a community club. This year’s festivities feature an idol made by renowned artist Amit Pal, son of Kumartuli’s Nimai Pal, and an array of authentic Bengali and Indian cuisines.

Celebrating Traditions and Artistry
The idol will be illuminated by special panel lighting from Chandannagar, while the pandals are curated by artists from Kolkata. The central theme of the pandal gate is a replica of a portion of the Hawa Mahal architecture from Rajasthan. This promises to be a visual spectacle, blending traditional and modern artistic elements.

Gastronomic Delights
Devotees can look forward to a feast that includes khichudi-labda bhog, Bengali sweets, beguni chop, and khejurer chutney. The culinary team has been specially brought in from Dutta Pukur, Kolkata. Stalls offering authentic Bengali and Indian dishes like shorshe ilish and rice, moghlai, rossogolas, and Shondesh will be set up, sourced from various locations including Kolkata and Krishna Nagar.

Social Outreach and Cultural Programs
As part of a regular tradition of social responsibility, the committee will be hosting guests from a blind ashram, offering them a sumptuous bhog lunch at the pandal. Cultural events include Bengali folk dances by Shumita Mahajan and troupe, melodies from Bengal by Saregama fame Raktim Chowdhury, and a performance by internationally famous Bengali stand-up comedian Mridul Bhattacharya.

Rituals and Leadership
On Dashami, married women will bid adieu to Maa Durga in the Sindoor Khela Utsav, offering vermilion, sweets, and betel leaves. The committee’s operations are led by President PK Bhattacharya and General Secretary NC Datta.

Looking Forward
The committee’s milestone celebration is a blend of tradition, art, and social responsibility, promising a memorable experience for the community.
