Pune, June 18, 2020: The Intelligence agency of India has issued a list of over 52 Chinese applications which are a major reason of concern for the nation. The agency has asked the Government of India to block or to advise people to stop the usage of these apps. They said that these applications aren’t safe and extract a huge amount of data and send it to servers outside the country, Hindustan Times reported. This is a matter of urgent concern. These applications monitor every little movement and the privacy of the users is compromised.
Some of the widely used Chinese apps are TikTok, SHAREit, Xender and Zoom. Union Home Ministry had earlier warned the people against using Zoom app earlier. Many other countries like the US and Germany have also flagged the risk of using these apps. Concerns have been raised that these apps pose grave security risks. They extract data and invade the privacy of the people. The biggest concern is that they can be used as spyware which can be later used to manipulate or intimidate the people. Sensitive data and conversations are not to be carried or shared through these applications because the risk of third party involvement is too high.
