Indian-Origin MP Chandra Arya Eyes Canadian PM Role Amid Liberal Party Struggles
Ottawa, 10th January 2025: Indian-origin Member of Parliament Chandra Arya has announced his candidacy for the Canadian Prime Ministership following Justin Trudeau’s resignation.
Just days after Trudeau stepped down amidst internal discord within the Liberal Party, Arya declared his intention to contest for the party leadership. In a detailed post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Arya shared his vision for a “small, more efficient government” to address Canada’s pressing challenges and rebuild the nation.
Arya highlighted Canada’s current difficulties, including economic struggles, affordability issues for students, and a weakening middle class, calling the situation a “perfect storm.” He expressed his commitment to making bold decisions to revitalize the economy and ensure equal opportunities for all Canadians. “Canada deserves leadership unafraid of making significant decisions,” he wrote. “I am prepared to take on this responsibility and lead the country forward.”
He further emphasized the need for decisive action, stating, “Rebuilding our economy, restoring hope, creating equal opportunities, and securing prosperity for future generations are not optional—they are imperative. With prudence and pragmatism as my guiding principles, I am stepping forward to lead Canada as its next Prime Minister.”
To support his campaign, Arya launched a website that outlines his full statement and will provide updates on his policies and positions on key issues.
Arya has been vocal about his support for the Hindu community in Canada and has expressed concerns about Khalistani extremism in the country.
