Indian Railways Launches ‘Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra’ Tourist Train
New Delhi, 14th April 2023: The “Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra” tourist train, a special tour designed by Indian Railways to highlight places connected with the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, has been launched from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
The train was flagged off jointly by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, and G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Development of North Eastern Region. The 7-night/8-day trip includes visits to prominent places associated with Baba Saheb’s life, such as New Delhi, Mhow, Nagpur, Sanchi, Sarnath, Gaya, Rajgir, and Nalanda.
The train, which can accommodate 600 tourists in its ten 3AC class coaches, will have a pantry car and other facilities such as CCTV cameras and security guards. The tour package, starting from Rs. 21,650 per person, includes travel in 3AC, night stays at hotels, all meals, transfers, sightseeing, services of a guide, and travel insurance.
The launch of the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is part of the “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative of the Government of India to promote domestic tourism.
