Indian Railways To Use Bedsheets Made By Prisoners Of Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail

Pune, 14th August 2022: With a view to promote local industries and encourage the sale of items made by prisoners, the railway administration has decided to use hand-made bedsheets prepared by the inmates of Yerwada Central Jail, Pune.
In the initial phase, 89 handmade bedsheets are being supplied in Rajdhani Express (Central Railway) from 15th August. Based on the feedback received from passengers, they will be used in trains like Pune-Ahmedabad Duronto Express, etc. departing from Pune.
A contract has been signed between Pune Railway Administration and Yerwada Jail Administration under the guidance of Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer AK Gupta and Divisional Railway Manager Renu Sharma. Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Vijaysinh Dadas is trying to ensure the supply by proper coordination on this important project.
