Infantry Day 2025 Commemorated at Mhow; Tributes Paid to Fallen Heroes
Mhow, 27th October 2025: The Indian Army on Monday marked Infantry Day 2025 with solemn tributes and patriotic fervour at the Infantry School, Mhow, honouring the courage and sacrifice of the Infantry soldiers who defended the nation in 1947.
Infantry Day holds deep historical significance — on 27th October 1947, the First Battalion of The Sikh Regiment was airlifted to Srinagar to thwart Pakistan’s attempts to capture Jammu and Kashmir. Their valiant stand secured the region and symbolized the resilience of India’s Infantry arm.
Wreath Laying Ceremony at Infantry Memorial
The celebrations at Mhow began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Infantry Memorial to pay homage to fallen soldiers. Lt Gen Gajendra Joshi, AVSM, SM, Commandant of The Infantry School, led the tribute, joined by senior serving officers, veterans, and other ranks. Together, they honoured the memory of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
Infantry Day Marathon “Runveer 7.0” Announced
As part of the celebrations, a mega event titled “Runveer 7.0”, an Infantry Day Marathon, is scheduled to be held on November 9, 2025, at The Infantry School, Mhow. This year’s theme — “Saluting Op Sindoor” — reflects the enduring spirit of courage and dedication that defines the Indian Infantry.

‘Queen of Battle’: The Backbone of the Indian Army
Known as the “Queen of Battle,” the Infantry is one of the largest arms of the Indian Army. It has played a crucial role not only in defending the country’s borders but also in nation-building, humanitarian relief operations, and United Nations peacekeeping missions worldwide.
Infantry soldiers have time and again exemplified bravery, discipline, and commitment to peace, carrying forward the proud legacy of their predecessors who secured the nation’s unity in 1947.
