Pune, 11 October 2023:In a groundbreaking 12-week clinical trial, an innovative strategy for combating obesity has emerged. This novel approach involves combining alternate day fasting (ADF) and endurance exercise, and the results are nothing short of astounding.

Alternate Day Fasting (ADF), a dietary practice where individuals consume only 25% of their daily calories between 12 noon and 2 PM on “fast days” while eating freely on “feed days,” has long been regarded as a potent weight loss tool. Those undertaking ADF are allowed to enjoy calorie-free beverages like black coffee, tea, water, and sugar-free gum on fasting days.

Endurance exercise, a staple in the arsenal of obesity combat, saw participants gradually increase exercise duration to 40 minutes, maintaining an average heart rate of 75% of their maximum heart rate. This regimen included stationary bike and elliptical workouts three times a week.

Now, the moment of truth – the results of this groundbreaking study:

Weight Loss: The combination group (ADF + exercise) outperformed all expectations, shedding a staggering 6 kilograms. ADF alone yielded 3 kilograms of weight loss, while exercise alone contributed just 1 kilogram.

BMI: The combination group achieved a remarkable reduction of 2 points in their BMI, compared to 1 point in both the ADF and exercise-only groups.

Fat Mass: A remarkable 5-kilogram reduction in fat mass was seen in the combination group, while the ADF-only group managed 2 kilograms.

Waist Circumference: The combination group showcased an impressive 8-centimeter reduction in waist circumference, whereas the ADF-only and exercise-only groups registered 5 and 3 centimeters, respectively.

Cholesterol: The combination group experienced a remarkable 12% drop in LDL cholesterol and an 18% surge in HDL cholesterol, showcasing its unique impact on lipid profiles.
