International Sanskrit Day Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm at Geeta Ashram, Pune

Pune, 27th August 2026: The ‘International Sanskrit Day’, organized annually by the ‘Gurukul Sanskrit Academy’ – a wing of Geeta Ashram, Pune – was celebrated this year on 27th August with unprecedented enthusiasm.

The students of ‘Gurukul Sanskrit Academy’, an institution established with the blessings and encouragement of Guruji Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasa ji and under the guidance of senior teacher Shri Ajit Menon, which is a part of Geeta Ashram, came together to present a variety of high-quality programs in Sanskrit, including short skits, song recitals, storytelling, and short speeches on this special occasion.

The program began with the felicitation of the Guruji Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasaji.

To start the program, the famous original Hindi song ‘Jyot Se Jyot Jalate Chalo’ was presented in Sanskrit. The melodious Hindi song was translated into Sanskrit by the institution’s teacher, Smt. Vanita Kolur.

This was followed by the short play ‘Purvakritasya Phalam’, which conveyed the message ‘As you sow, so shall you reap’ and highlighted the extraordinary importance of Karma in human life. The story ‘Antara Parivartana’, whose original source is the book series ‘Gurumukhamritam’ published by Geeta Ashram, beautifully narrated the journey of spiritual seekers towards positivity and transformation through knowledge.

The dialogue between Yudhishthira and the Yaksha, presented through the short play ‘Yakshaprashnah’, kept the audience spellbound. After this, in the short speech ‘Krishnakripasagaram’, the mystery of the inner meanings intended in the great sayings of the Vedas and Upanishads was unfolded. The audience was mesmerized by the melodious Narasimha Stotra presented by the students.

The story ‘Mokshasya Margah’ threw light on various spiritual aspects. The play ‘Bhavatah Vyadhih – Asmakam Vyaparah’ made a poignant commentary on the rampant greed for wealth prevalent everywhere. The play ‘Guruvakyam Sada Hitam’ explained the selfless concern of spiritual Sadgurus for the welfare of people and their tireless efforts for it, as well as the destruction caused by disobeying the Sadguru, with reference to the Mahabharata.

The entire program won the hearts of the large number of people present, from children to the elderly, by entertaining them and giving some valuable messages.

With the aim of spreading and promoting the ancient and divine Sanskrit language, ‘Gurukul Sanskrit Academy’ conducts regular as well as online classes of the Sanskrit language free of cost, and they are open to all.
