International Yoga Festival 2025 Begins in Rishikesh with Global Participation

Rishikesh, 9th March 2025: The International Yoga Festival 2025 began today at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, bringing together over 900 yoga enthusiasts and spiritual seekers from 50 countries.
The week-long festival, scheduled from March 9 to March 15, aims to celebrate the ancient practice of yoga and its transformative power, offering a unique blend of workshops, yoga classes, spiritual discourses, and cultural programs along the banks of the holy Ganges.
Organized by Parmarth Niketan in collaboration with Uttarakhand Tourism, the festival has become a global platform for promoting health, wellness, and cultural exchange.
This year’s event features renowned yoga teachers, spiritual leaders, and wellness experts from across the globe. Participants will have the opportunity to explore various yoga styles, including Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Iyengar Yoga.
Additionally, meditation sessions and Ayurveda workshops are being conducted to promote holistic well-being.
Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, inaugurated the festival with a prayer ceremony.
 Speaking at the event, he said, “Yoga is not just about physical postures; it is a way of life that connects us with ourselves and the world around us. This festival is a celebration of unity in diversity.” The highlight of the opening day was the soulful Ganga Aarti performed by participants from different countries.
The festival also includes interactive sessions on topics such as stress management, mental health, and sustainable living. Eminent speakers like Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati and Dr. Bruce Lipton are scheduled to deliver talks during the event.
According to Vishal Mishra, Managing Director of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), “This festival not only promotes yoga but also highlights Uttarakhand as a global destination for spiritual tourism.”
Participants expressed their excitement about being part of this iconic event. Maria Gonzalez from Spain shared her experience: “Practicing yoga here amidst nature is truly magical.
 It’s an opportunity to connect with like-minded people from around the world.” Local residents also welcomed the festival as it boosts tourism and provides a platform for showcasing Indian culture.
