Investment of Rs 1.50 lakh crores in Agro & Food Industry can make India a leader in processed foods

Pune, 15 May 2020- Allocation of of Rs 1 lakh crs will lead to Creation of infrastructure at farm-gate and aggregation points and development of affordable Post-harvest infrastructure and will help farmers to store, transport and process products. Rs 10,000 crs for Setting up of agro processing cluster based on the agro products grown in that area will help farmers and entrepreneurs to create national and global food brands eg kesar based products in Kashmir, Mango/cashew nut  based in Konkan etc. will benefit over 2 lakh Micro Food Enterprises.  15,000 crs for modernising Dairy Infrastructure with focus on value added products .
Allocation of Rs 20,000 crs will lead to Fisheries sector including investments in boats, new harbours, Cold Chain etc. This investment of more than Rs 1.50 lakh crs will lead to creation of long term infrastructure in all areas of agriculture, fisheries, dairy and food processing and can make India a leader in Agro and Agro processing in the world. This will also lead to development of rural and semi urban areas as they will get investment and jobs.
