IPL 2023: Bangalore Falls Eight Runs Short  Even After 126 Partnership Of Glenn And Faf

Bangalore, 17th April 2023: MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs in the 24th match of the season held at M Chinnaswamy. Today’s match was sometimes shown in CSK’s favor, sometimes RCB dominated the match and in the end, Dhoni managed to win the match.
Batting first, CSK set a target of 227 runs, in reply, Bangalore could only score runs in the allotted overs.
Chasing a target of 227 runs for victory, Royal Challengers Bangalore were 15 for two wickets. RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell made a partnership of 126 runs in 61 balls and pulled the match from the hands of Chennai Super Kings.
Akash Singh, who came as an impact player, took the wicket of Virat Kohli (6) in the first over. Tushar Deshpande then sent back Mahipal Lomror (0). Maxwell was dismissed for 76 off 36 balls with three fours and 11 sixes. Maxwell and Faf’s partnership of 126 off 61 balls ended.
Moeen Ali was brought in by Dhoni to bowl and he succeeded in the first over. Faf was dismissed as was Maxwell. Faf was caught by Dhoni for 62 off 33 balls with five fours and four sixes.
Dinesh Karthik got a chance to play the role of a finisher today and he also hit some good shots early on. RCB needed 46 runs off 24 balls. At 22 runs, Ruturaj missed an easy catch of Karthik. A lot of catches were missed by CSK today and it looked like it was going to cost them dearly. But, Karthik was caught on 28 runs and the now RCB needed 36 runs off 19 balls.
In the 17th over, Pathirana dismissed Shahbaz Ahmed (12) to shock RCB and this time Ruturaj took the catch. Wayne Parnell (2) was also dismissed by Deshpande. RCB needed 19 runs in six balls. Pathirana came to bowl the last over and forced the hosts to settle for 218 for the loss of eight wickets. Chennai won this match by eight runs.
Earlier, RCB players were jubilant after Ruturaj (3) was dismissed early, but Ajinkya brought them to the brink. He scored 37 runs off 20 balls with three fours and two sixes in a 43-ball 74-run partnership with Conway. Shivam Dube and Conway then put on a 37-ball 80-run partnership. Conway was dismissed for 83 off 45 balls with six fours and six sixes. Dube returned to 52 runs off 27 balls with two fours and five sixes.
