Pune: Robbers Stab Man, Snatch Girlfriend’s Chain At Sinhagad Fort
Pune, 18th April 2023: A young man was brutally attacked by unknown assailants and his girlfriend was robbed at Sinhgad fort. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at around 1:30 pm while the couple was taking a walk on the footpath inside the fort.
The safety of tourists visiting the area has been brought into question due to this incident.
The victim, Vivek Kumar Babulal Prasad, a 28-year-old resident of Hadapsar, and his girlfriend were descending from the fort on the Atkarwadi footpath when two robbers hiding in the bushes at the second stage ambushed them. The attackers blocked their path and snatched the chain from Vivek Kumar’s girlfriend’s neck. When Vivek Kumar tried to resist, one of the assailants stabbed him with a sharp object believed to be a koyta (chopper). The attackers then fled as Prasad shouted for help.
Both of them immediately rushed to Atkarwadi in fear, where a forest guard, Sandeep Koli, tried to provide first aid to Prasad’s hand, which was bleeding profusely. However, the primary treatment was ineffective. Koli quickly alerted the Haveli police about the incident. A case has been registered against the unidentified attackers at the Haveli police station.
