Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl. Dhoni’s decision was justified by Chennai’s spinners who reduced half of Lucknow’s team to 50 runs. Moeen Ali and Tikshana gave Lucknow a shock in the power play and after the power play, Ravindra Jadeja started to disrupt the Lucknow batting. Therefore, Lucknow’s condition became 52 runs for five wickets in 12 overs.

In the 18th over, Mathisha Pathirana broke the pair by dismissing Nicholas Pooran for 20 runs. But after this, Ayush Badoni took control of the innings in his hands and completed his half-century by hitting the slog over. Along with this, Lucknow also reached 125 runs, meanwhile, the rain started.
