IPL 2023: Delhi Beat Gujarat By Five Runs

Ahmedabad, 2nd May 2023: Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by five runs to get their third win in the 44th match of the season at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Earlier, Delhi. Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first against Gujarat Titans who topped the points table. But they could only reach 130 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

 

Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 59 runs from Gujarat while Rahul Tewatia hit 20 runs in seven balls to increase the tension in Delhi.

 

From Gujarat, Mohammed Shami took four wickets giving 11 runs in four overs. Finally, Aman Hakim Khan scored a half-century of 51 runs and Axar Patel saved Delhi by knocking 27 runs. Mohit Sharma also picked up two wickets for Delhi.

 

Gujarat defeated Delhi by 130 runs, but Delhi also showed a fight against Gujarat. DC had kept Gujarat at 26 for three. Khalil Ahamed took the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha on a zero and Nortje dismissed Shubman Gill for six runs. Ishant Sharma then took a wicket of Vijay Shankar who added six runs to the team. After this, David Miller returned to the pavilion on zero. Kuldeep Yadav took the wicket to make Gujarat’s score 32 for four runs.

 

But after this, Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar put on a partnership of 62 runs for the fifth wicket. Just when Gujarat was close to 100, Khalil broke the pair by dismissing Abhinav Manohar for 26 runs. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, who was held to one side, had scored a half-century.

 

He was now joined by Rahul Tewatia. But Gujarat needed 33 runs in 12 balls. Rahul Tewatia then hit three sixes in the last three overs of Nortje, who bowled the 19th over. As many as 21 runs were scored in this over. Now the match was six balls and 12 runs.

 

Experienced Ishant Sharma shouldered the responsibility of bowling the last over. He gave away two runs in the first ball and one run in the second ball. Rahul Tewatia was dismissed on the fourth ball. Now the match came to nine runs in two balls. But Ishant conceded two runs on the fifth ball. Now DC needed seven runs in one ball. win for Delhi.
