IPL 2024 to Begin in Chennai on March 22

Pune, 22nd February 2024: The much-awaited 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off in Chennai, as announced by IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal. Chennai, being the defending champions, holds the honour of hosting the inaugural event, which will be marked by a grand opening ceremony preceding the opening match.
However, at present, there is no confirmation regarding whether the Super Kings will face off against fellow finalists Gujarat Titans in the opening game.
Dhumal stated that the IPL will soon release a partial schedule within the next couple of days, with the complete schedule to follow suit once the Election Commission of India announces the dates for the General Election. “Initially, we will unveil the itinerary for the first 10-12 days,” mentioned Dhumal.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the nationwide polling dates between the second and third week of March, based on which the final IPL schedule will be determined. The IPL season will culminate on May 26
