New Delhi, 10th July 2026: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is set to launch the beta version of its revamped ticket booking website, with the upgraded portal introducing a simplified interface, faster booking process and improved seat availability display.

Ahead of the launch, officials from IRCTC and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) met students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur on Friday to demonstrate the beta version and gather feedback before its public rollout.

The redesigned website follows concerns raised by MNIT students a few weeks ago regarding the existing IRCTC portal. According to railway officials, the beta version has now been reviewed by the students as part of the pre-launch testing process.

The upgraded website introduces four key changes. The booking portal removes unnecessary captchas, pop-ups, flashing graphics and other distracting elements. It also displays seat availability across all travel classes on a single screen, reduces the number of steps required to complete ticket booking, and allows passengers to save traveller details for quicker repeat bookings.

Railway officials said the revamped IRCTC website is currently being integrated with the Indian Railways Passenger Reservation System (PRS), which is also undergoing a major upgrade. The fully functional version of the new IRCTC portal is expected to be rolled out after the upgraded reservation engine becomes operational in the coming months.

The Passenger Reservation System, which powers railway ticket booking platforms, is being modernised while continuing regular operations. Officials said the upgraded reservation engine will be launched shortly.

Meanwhile, the RailOne mobile application has crossed 4 crore downloads, making it the largest railway ticket booking app in the country. The application provides access to multiple railway services through a single platform.

Railway officials also said measures have been introduced to curb the use of automated bots during Tatkal ticket bookings. Additional efforts to strengthen the booking system and improve fairness in Tatkal reservations are continuing.
