Irrigation facilities only can pave the way for farmers’ progress- Devendra Fadanvis

Mumbai, June 15: Irrigation facilities alone can pave the way for farmers’ progress and therefore for this mutual cooperation between states and projects like Kaleswarm are needed, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis here today.

Telangan Chief Minister K Chandrqasekhar Rao today called on Chief Minsiter Devendra Fadanvis to extend an invitation to him for inauguration of ambitious Kaleswaram irrigation project of his state. It is on this occasion Fadanvis expressed his thoughts.

Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan, cabinet members of Telangana and others were present on this occasion.

Accepting the invitation from CM Rao, Fadnvis praised his leadership for his vision and speed to complete the project. He said that irrigation facilities only can pave the way for development and progress and uplifting the life standards of the people. Indian economy is farm based and as such irrigation facilities help in consolidating the economy also. That is why in Maharashtra emphasis is laid on providing irrigation facilities, Fadanvis said. Efforts are on to speed up Marathwada Water Grid scheme. With water merging into sea is being brought into Godavari river to provide water to Marathwada and Vidarbha regions. Eleven dams will be connected in this scheme and this will help overcome the drought conditions in this region. It is necessary to have water sharing dialogue between the states for this purpose and Kaleswaram project will be the best example for the country to follow, CM Fadanvis said.

Telangana CM Rao thanked his counterpart for extending all cooperation for the completion of this project. He said it was not possible to complete this project without the cooperation of Maharashtra. We could complete this project due to timely help and cooperation in many respects from your end. People of Telangana will never forget this gesture of Maharashtra, he said. This project will be instrumental in shaping the better future of posterity and these generations will also be indebted to Maharashtra for this, he added.

This project will be inaugurated on June 21 and CM Devendra Fadanvis is specially invited for this inauguration function.

Accepting the invitation CM Fadanvis presented a replica of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and honoured him.  Rao too felicitated Fadanvis as per the traditions of Telangana.
