Ishanya Bhavan: A New Home for Northeastern Students at Symbiosis University Pune

Viman Nagar, October 7, 2023: “Symbiosis Ishanya Bhavan” in Pune built by Symbiosis International University is an ideal example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” concept, said Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India.
Pradhan was the chief guest at the inauguration of Ishanya Bhavan. Chandrakant Patil, Minister for Higher Education and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, was the guest of honour.
The event commenced with a dance performance representing the states in northeastern India, highlighting the rich diversity of the region.
Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, founder of Symbiosis University, announced, “We have decided to offer one scholarship to a student from the northeastern part of India. The student will not have to spend a single penny on their education here at Symbiosis.”
The event also featured students from various countries presenting their national flags to the Indian Education Minister, showcasing the university’s global diversity.
Minister Pradhan shared light moments with the students and commended Symbiosis University’s recent efforts to foster inclusivity.
Dr. Mujumdar elaborated on the inception of Symbiosis, stating, “I initially founded Symbiosis to create a community for foreign students to experience Indian culture. However, I soon realized that students from northeastern India were feeling uncomfortable. We aim to address this issue with the inauguration of Ishanya Bhavan.”
