Pune, 13th October 2026: Pune’s special economic zones (SEZs) have recorded exports worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore, driven by companies operating across sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals and engineering, said Mital Hiremath, joint development commissioner of the SEZ Pune cluster, on Saturday.

Speaking at a discussion on ‘SEZs and Export Opportunities’ held as part of the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat Fashion and Lifestyle Expo 2026’, Hiremath highlighted the facilities and business opportunities available to companies operating in these zones.

The expo, organised by the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in association with Shikhaj Karigari, seeks to showcase India’s diverse heritage in arts, handicrafts, textiles, fashion and lifestyle.

Pune has 22 SEZs across locations including Hinjewadi and Kharadi, with companies from IT, pharmaceuticals and engineering contributing to the city’s export performance.

Hiremath said SEZs offer businesses various incentives, including tax and Goods and Services Tax (GST)-related concessions, along with infrastructure and other facilities under one roof. These benefits help companies expand their operations and also support smaller enterprises, she added.
