Jaisalmer Military Station Adds State-of-the-Art Bajwa Auditorium, Named After Vir Chakra Awardee Col GS Bajwa

Jaisalmer, 21st October 2023: Jaisalmer Military Station celebrated a momentous occasion as Lt Gen AK Singh, Army Commander, Southern Command inaugurated Bajwa Auditorium in honour of Col GS Bajwa, a decorated war veteran who graced the occasion. This Auditorium equipped with modern amenities is a major addition to the infrastructure at the Military Station and will be utilised for conduct of professional and recreational activities.

The facility honours the heroic contribution of Col GS Bajwa, a living legend and a recipient of Vir Chakra for his gallant actions during the Battle of Laungewala in 1971. He brought accurate fire on enemy positions during the War that led to the spectacular victory. His presence at the inauguration has made this day even more special, as it highlights the legacy of his valour and service. The officer has also been conferred with Shaurya Chakra as part of army aviation in a daring rescue mission later in his service. Settled at Chandigarh, this has been a homecoming of sorts for him to reminisce the times spent in uniform in this area during 1971.
