Jalgaon: CBI Arrests Bank Manager In Bribery Case, Recovers Rs 10 Lakh

Jalgaon, September 4, 2020: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Branch Manager, Bank of Baroda, Parola Branch, Jalgaon (Maharashtra) and a private person in an alleged bribery case.

CBI has registered a case on a complaint against Branch Manager, Bank of Baroda, Parola Branch, Jalgaon. It was alleged that the Branch Manager had demanded a bribe of Rs 56,000 (8% of the loan amount sanctioned) from the complainant for sanction and disbursement of Agriculture Loan of Rs 7.10 lakh to the complainant. 

During the investigation, it was revealed that one Agent (private person) also allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 for processing the said matter. It was further alleged that the bribe amount was later negotiated and was fixed at Rs 75,000 (Rs 50,000 for the Manager and Rs 25,000 for the agent). In a unique modus operandi, the Branch Manager had allegedly obtained blank signed cheque from the complainant and got the amount of Rs 75,000 withdrawn through the Agent. In the follow-up action, CBI arrested both, the Branch Manager and the agent.

 

Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused at Jalgaon (Maharashtra) which led to the recovery of various incriminating documents including the loan file, the said cheque etc. and cash amount of Rs 10 lakh.

 

Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Court of Special Judge, Amalner, District-Jalgaon.
