Theunprecedented floods in Kerala have caused large scale damage and destruction. As the flood water recedes, the process of re-building of public infrastructure such as Roads, Power, Schools and Hospitals has commenced. An estimated 1,00,000 buildings and over 10,000 km of roads and bridges have been damaged in the floods.

JCB India is a leading manufacturer of Earthmoving and Construction Equipment in India. It has been contributing to the building urban and rural infrastructure in India for nearly four decades. JCB machines have always been at the forefront of partnering with local communities and the administration to rescue and re-build after or during any natural calamity.

In keeping with its ethos, JCB India has deployed 30 Earthmoving and Construction machines to support the re-building of the severely affected areas in Kerala.

The machines deployed include Backhoe loaders, Excavators and Skid Steers. These machines can be used to carry out a number of tasks such as cleaning of debris, excavation, lifting, dozing and road construction, among others. The machines would facilitate faster completion of work and would be deployed for a period of two months.

In addition to deploying machines, an amount of approximately 24 lakhs contributed by JCB India employees is also being handed over to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Vipin Sondhi, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, JCB India said, “We arecommitted to supporting Kerala in whatever way we can by deploying these 30 JCB machines. We are proud to be working shoulder to shoulder with the people and the local administration in the rehabilitation and re-building efforts in Kerala. The people of the state have gone through un-imaginable hardship over the past few days and have shown great resilience. Through these machines, we support the restoration process so that normal life and economic activity can resume at the earliest.”
