Pune, 10th May 2024: Jyotika, the renowned actress from the South Indian film industry, recently disclosed her reasons for re-entering Bollywood after a hiatus of two decades. Starting her career with the Hindi film “Doli Saja Ke Rakhna” in 1997, she gained prominence in South Indian cinema before making her comeback to Hindi cinema. In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Jyotika explained her prolonged absence from Bollywood and her decision to return, shedding light on her recent projects and aspirations.

Jyotika’s journey in the film industry began with her debut in “Doli Saja Ke Rakhna” in 1997, a Hindi film. However, despite her entry into Bollywood, she found success and recognition primarily in South Indian cinema. Speaking to Dainik Jagran, she revealed that her initial foray into Hindi cinema was not fruitful, leading her to explore opportunities in the South. She expressed her contentment with the roles she received in South Indian films, which prompted her to remain there for two decades. However, she highlighted the emerging trend of pan-Indian films as a factor in bridging the gap between North and South Indian cinema.

The decision to return to Bollywood, particularly after her stint in the film “Shaitan,” came as a surprise to many. Jyotika clarified that she had signed the film “Shrikant” before “Shaitan,” emphasizing the appeal of working with a talented team and actors like Rajkumar Rao. She admitted that initially, her husband and actor Suriya was taken aback by her choice to re-enter Hindi cinema. However, he eventually supported her decision. Jyotika expressed her focus on women-centric stories, highlighting the strength of ordinary women managing their homes and families. She expressed her desire to contribute to such narratives and be part of empowering storytelling.

“Shrikant,” the film Jyotika mentioned, has recently hit theaters and is receiving acclaim from critics. With her return to Bollywood and a renewed focus on meaningful narratives, Jyotika aims to make a significant impact in the Indian film industry.
