Pune/Nandurbar, 10th May 2024: Rotary Club of Pune Amanora and Spherule Foundation jointly enabled a group of women entrepreneurs in Ranjani village in Nandurbar district in Maharashtra by providing them with a Masala manufacturing unit. These ladies were earlier trained in masala making by Spherule Foundation and thereafter, the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora purchased and installed the masala making unit, that will improve the earnings of the community women who are participating in this initiative.

In this process, the lady’s group consisting of Sheetal, Sangeeta, Kamal and Ratna from village Ranjani got involved and were enthusiastic about it. Sheetal, who was leading the group promised to make it big and generate more employment for the community.

Rotary Club of Pune Amanora along with Spherule Foundation has been running the flagship project called RevivingLivelihood for the last three years. This initiative is running in five states and across seven locations benefiting hundreds of needy people, whom they have enabled to come out of poverty and jump-start their own businesses. Rotary generates funds through crowdfunding and so far it has been a very successful initiative.

Speaking to Punekar News, Rotarian DD Mishra, who is the project sponsor of this initiative, Rotary and Spherule are not just helping individuals, but changing the destiny of the communities and their generations will be benefiting.

Mishra further added, “We also started working with the transgender community and we have conducted a proof of concept by enabling them as well. This was very successful and we hope that we can support transgenders to explore alternative livelihood. Almost 95% of our beneficiaries have been females, and most of them have been abandoned by their spouses. This is an excellent women empowerment initiative as well and serves many Sustainability goals of the United Nations”

Spherule Project Leader Bhawna said that they selected Nandurbar because it is an aspirational district as per the Government notification and needs a lot of support to trigger economic activities and entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, Rotary and Spherule intend to explore more community initiatives if this succeeds.
