Kalashree Mahotsav offers a musical treat to audience on its second day

Pune, February 20, 2022: Pt. Atul Kumar Upadhye’s performance on violin and classical singing by Ustad Arshad Ali Khan offered a musical treat to the audience on the second day of 24th Kalashree Mahotsav on Saturday. The Mahotsav is being organized by Kalashree Sangeet Mandal at Nilu Phule Hall, Navi Sangvi.

 

The second day of the festival started with the classical singing of the renowned vocalist of Kirana Gharana, Ustad Arshad Ali Khan. He performed ‘Raag Puriya’ followed by Thumri in Raag ‘Desh’. He ended the first session with the bhajan, ‘Baaje Re Muralia Baaje’. He was accompanied by Prashant Pandav (tabla), Abhinay Ravande (harmonium), Shashwati zurunge and Deepak Galande (Tanpura).

 

In the second session of the program, Pt. Atul Kumar Upadhye gave a performance on violin by presenting the raag ‘Maalkans’. He then played ‘Gat’ in ‘teen taal’ followed by ‘Ek Gat’ in the fast beat. After that he performed ‘Rang Raliya’ composed by Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. He also performed ‘Kaafi’ Raag followed by ‘Jamuna Ke Teer’ in Bhairavi. Paying homage to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, he concluded the second day by presenting ‘Pasayadan’ accompanied by Pt. Mukesh Jadhavon tabla.
