Pune, June 5, 2020: In the event of an epidemic caused by Covid-19, the police department is carrying out its responsibilities amidst lockdown including contact tracing, security in the containment zones, public awareness and social policing. Till now 52 police personnel have been found Coronavirus positive, while 27 of them have been cured, two have died. There are still 23 cops undergoing treatment for COVID19.

 

Today Kalyani Nagar Citizen Forum and Mrs Kashyap handed over 200 personal protection equipment (PPE) kits, 500 masks and 500 sanitizer bottles, in the presence of Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham. These safety gears will be distributed among officers and staffs of the police stations and other branches so that they can take care of themselves.

 

Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Sanjay Shinde, Ashok Morale and office bearers of Kalyani Nagar Citizen Forum were also present on the occasion. Police personnel are serving like other Corona warriors and safety measures have become vital given the rising cases of COVID19 in Pune city.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), in the last 24 hours, 182 new patients were detected while 9 patients died in Pune city today. Also, 170 people were discharged from hospitals after being cured of COVID19.  The total number of Coronavirus positive patients till date has reached 7447 out of which 4675 have been cured while 370 have died. There are still 2402 active patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals. They include 183 critical patients out of which 45 are on ventilator support. Today swab samples of 1656 people were collected for COVID tests. Till now 56,806 people have been tested in Pune city.
