Kalyani Nagar Footpath Revamp: MLA Pathare Action Improves Pedestrian Safety in Pune Suburb
Kalyani Nagar, 10th July 2025: Residents of Kalyani Nagar are expressing heartfelt gratitude to local MLA Bapu Pathare and his team for the swift and much-needed restoration of footpaths near Suman Business Park and Gold Adlabs Chowk, an area that had long posed serious safety risks to pedestrians.
For years, the narrow footpaths in this bustling part of the neighborhood had become dangerous due to encroachment by two-wheelers, broken surfaces, and poor sanitation. Senior citizens, children, and daily walkers struggled to navigate what had effectively become an obstacle course.
“It was incredibly difficult and unsafe for us to walk,” said Haresh Bharwani, a long-time resident. “The broken tiles and encroaching bikes made it a daily risk, especially for the elderly.”
Following mounting complaints from locals, MLA Bapu Pathare took immediate action. Under his direction, a comprehensive restoration project was launched, leading to visible improvements and renewed confidence among the residents.
Key Civic Improvements Implemented:
Complete Reconstruction and Repair: The previously dilapidated and uneven walkways have been fully rebuilt to ensure a smooth and safe surface for pedestrians.
Installation of Bollards: Strategic bollards now line the footpaths, effectively blocking motorbikes from entering and putting pedestrians at risk.
Cleanliness and Walkability Enhanced: The area has been thoroughly cleaned and cleared, making it significantly more hygienic and comfortable for daily use.
“The new bollards have really helped. We no longer have to worry about speeding bikes on the footpath. It feels much safer now.,” shared Monica S, another local resident.

The impact of these efforts is already visible on the ground. Locals who were previously hesitant to walk in the area are now stepping out with ease. For the elderly population especially, the upgrades have restored a sense of freedom and safety.
